It was a hot and humid evening on Monday the 5th of August at 7pm when the Brookhaven ARES group met for their monthly meeting and SKYWARN Spotter training. The training was provided by Brian Ciemnecki, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service located at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton NY. The training was specific, extensive and is a requirement for the ARRL Level 2 ARES certification. In attendance were not only members of Brookhaven ARES but also GSBARC and Islip radio clubs. All certified SKYWARN Spotters are encouraged to check into SKYWARN nets and exercise their new observation skills!
